How Does VRmeta Export My Metadata?

VRmeta can export your metadata in a number of ways

1. Embedded into your video
2. As a .xmp or .xml sidecar
3. As a metric-rich .csv file (lite and pro versions*)
4. Quick-tagged with time-based descriptive metadata, but without in-frame notation

5. Meta-tagged using a standard IPTC metadata caption and keyword field

Can I upload videos to VRmeta that have already been keyworded with .xmp metadata

VRmeta allows users to upload videos already keyworded with .xmp metadata. VRmeta will read any IPTC/ Dublin Core keywords and caption information, as well as any markers generated by Adobe Premiere Pro, or any other NLE which generates .xmp markers "flavored" with ISO standard .xmp.

Users should upload the video that will be matched to an accompanying .xmp sidecar by either HTTP or FTP.

Once the video is visible on the dashboard (you should refresh your browser after the upload completes), please then choose IMPORT .xmp and upload the sidecar to inject the already existent meta-tags into the video.

All keywords and caption metadata will now be injected into the video, and can be further edited by choosing the MORE button to the right of the video.

If you wish to modify, amend or add keywords, please choose the IPTC KEYWORDS button. If you wish to modify, amend or add to the caption, please choose the IPTC CAPTION button.

What Browser Works Best With VRmeta?

We recommend that you use Mozilla Firefox for the best tagging and playback experience.

Can I Share My Videos From My Dashboard?

VRmeta users can click on the "share" icon located just below the thumbnail of each video on the dashboard, and then share their videos in full resolution using either Dropbox or Google DriveTo begin sharing, just click on the “share” icon and choose the service you'd like to use to distribute your content. You will then be prompted to enter your user details for the individual service to activate your request.

What Video Codecs/ Formats Does VRmeta Support?

Vrmeta currently supports the following codecs and formats:

  • .MOV

  • .MP4

  • .R3D (up to version 3)

  • .AVI

  • Apple ProRes

  • .MXF

What Information Does The Pro .csv Include?

Everything that the lite version does (X and Y coordinates for every in-frame tagged person, object or event, descriptive metadata tags, IN and OUT points), plus video time given in frames, any IPTC metadata added through the Quick Tag function, along with a large number of EXIF data extracted from the camera such as resolution, frame rate, file size, video duration and bit rate

What Does The (IPTC) Keywords Button Do?

VRmeta knows that not every video demands in-frame, time-based descriptive metadata, so we've created a Keyword Button that allows users to add unlimited numbers of comma separated keywords.  This is ideal for stock video shooters, hobbiests or anyone storing their content on a DAM. Both IPTC™ and Dublin Core metadata standards enjoy universal acceptance. The two schemas define metadata structure, properties, and fields, so that whatever media it's applied to is optimally described and easily accessed later

What Does The Caption Button Do?

VRmeta knows that not every video demands time-based descriptive metadata, so we've created a Caption Button that allows users to add a 2000 character long caption or summary into a universally legible Dublin Core Metadata Initiative/ IPTC™  core description field.

Both Dublin Core and IPTC™ metadata standards enjoy universal acceptance among content creatives, distributors, news organizations, archivists, and developers. The two schemas define metadata structure, properties, and fields, so that whatever media it's applied to is optimally described and easily accessed later

What Does The Quick Tag Button Do?

If you want to meta-tag your video, but don't need to tie it to a particular in-frame location, then the Quick Tag function will easily apply your time-based descriptive metadata to your video and leave out references to either a X or Y coordinate
